SAPSA Funding in Action: RAZ-Plus

This fall, first grade teachers Ms. Cariveau and Ms. Williams requested SAPSA’s support for the

invaluable reading app RAZ-Plus. Fun fact: On the day that Ms. Cariveau and Ms. William’s

presented their ask to SAPSA, Ms. Cariveau’s students asked, “Do we get to do RAZ this

year?!”

RAZ-Plus is loved by teachers and kids alike. St. Anthony Park is so lucky to have SAPSA’s

support in providing the RAZ-Plus experience for our primary grades. RAZ-Plus is more than

just a reading app. It is a tool that fosters reading growth by meeting kiddos where they are at and providing skill-building opportunities to grow their reading and comprehension.

Each child has access to a library of digital books at their level, coupled with a comprehension quiz. They access the digital library on their iPads. There is also an opportunity to listen to each story. Scaffolds are built into each level to help support kiddos when they are stuck on a word.

Teachers receive specific data from each comprehension quiz. This data helps support small group work, targeting specific skills that need growing. For example, elements of a story like: characters, setting, plot, conflict, theme, and point of view.

RAZ-Plus also provides teachers with a printable library of leveled books, decodable books, and running records. These running records are used to determine when a child is ready to move to the next reading level.

We are so grateful to SAPSA for bringing the RAZ-Plus experience to SAP kiddos. They are already

celebrating new gains and growth as a result of this program. SAP kids love to read!

— Ms. Cariveau

Student Directory

A message from Nia Anderson, SAPSA Directory Co-Chair:

Hello Neighbors and Friends!

Every fall, the St. Anthony Park School Association compiles, prints and distributes an opt-in student directory. Community sponsorship of the SAP Elementary Directory helps to offset our printing costs.

Sponsorship is available for quarter, half, and full pages. The space will feature your name and contact information on a royalty-free or appropriately licensed coloring book page. We will also feature your logo on SAPSAMN.org, with a link to your web site.

Sponsorships are considered a charitable gift and are tax deductible.

If you would like to sponsor the directory this year, you may do so here.

Thank you for your support!
