Meeting Minutes

At our April meeting, voted on and passed two ad hoc budget proposals! Thank you to Karen Paulsen and Nia Anderson for taking the time to submit these proposals and present them to us.

1.) Karen Paulsen (PhyEd.) presented a request for $3,300 for an all day event partnering with Ninja Anywhere. Click here for the full proposal.

2.) Nia Anderson (Treasurer, parent) presented a request for $3,000 for improved signage, supplies and book replenishment for our school library. Click here for the full proposal

We are also working on our Q4 budget which will prioritize our spending from May 1-July 31. Key spends include: Teacher Appreciation, School Beautification (improve Wolf Sign near playground) and end of year celebrations.

The chairs of our Plant Sale also sat down with us to talk us through the event which has already grossed $16,000+ in presales! Incredible. Their biggest ask is for support during the event itself and we will be working hard to fill all available volunteer slots.

As for planning, our FY 2021-2022 budget is on hold until Dr. Duke receives the school's budget. We will then present our game plan to the school for feedback via a survey. Our hope for next year is to create many opportunities for meaningful participation via programming and we will solicit feedback from school families once we have a robust list assembled. Some ideas were: children's author events, family field trips to places like Gibbs Farm or the Bell Museum, Ice Skating with a DJ at Langford, Movie Night, Ice Cream social and outdoor picnic with music at the park. Our hope is that many of our events will be conducted outside next year as we all ease back into a new normal.

Meeting Minutes

In January, we focused on the upcoming transition to in-person learning for grades K-2 (February 1st) and grades 3-5 (February 16th). The board reviewed fundraising income, volunteer opportunities focused on social activities for children, service project due dates, availability of lawnsigns to promoted out school during enrollment period, and plans for Q3 SAPSA budget. The reminder of the meeting was dedicated to Principal Duke's update and a robust Q&A with families about upcoming transitions.
